Vice President Flight Operations, United Airlines
Kirk Limacher is vice president of flight operations at United. In this role, Kirk oversees training, crew resources and Aviate program strategy. Building on the successful foundation he established in human resources services, Kirk leads his team in supporting the continued expansion of the Aviate program in attracting, hiring and training the 10,000 new pilots United will need to bring the United Next growth plan to life in the next decade.
Kirk’s extensive background in leadership development, as well as his systems thinking and process improvement focus, helps the Flight Operations team to deliver a holistic employee onboarding experience from recruitment, required training and continuing qualification, to career development.
Prior to this role, Kirk served as vice president of human resources services at United where he was responsible for the design and deployment of a world-class shared-service experience for all employees and retirees. He also oversaw the day-to-day delivery of HR services and Global Learning to employees and managers, and ensures these services are standardized, high quality and follow best practices.
Kirk joined United in 2014 as managing director of human resources operations and strategy, overseeing the employee service center and HR technology. He oversaw the implementation of numerous HR service delivery initiatives including significant employee experiential improvements.
Before joining United, Kirk developed a strong human relations career at Xerox Corporation as vice president of human relations services and implementation, and at Hewlett-Packard as human resources outsourcing account executive and pursuit leader.
Kirk holds a B.A. of Political Science and Economics from the University of Michigan. He is married and has three children.
